Acne Laser Treatment
Our Acne Laser Treatment is an important step for many patients who have been diagnosed with acne and have already begun a regimen of acne treatments. The Candela Smoothbeam™ laser produces a burst of light that selectively alters the sebaceous glands that are a contributing cause of acne, without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Total Health & Skin Center specializes in treating active acne (blemishes, blackheads, pimple and cystic lesions), but did you know we also provide treatment for acne scars? Customized plans can lead to drastic improvements in these areas.
Types Of Acne Scars
There are four common types of acne scarring. Many people have multiple types of acne scars. Picking at acne lesions can cause more scarring than the acne itself, so we encourage you to avoid picking at your skin as much as possible.
Ice Pick – This type of scarring is characterized by deep pits that are usually less than 2 mm across. They extend into the skin, giving the surface the appearance of having been punctured by an ice pick.
Boxcar – Boxcar scars are angular scars with sharp vertical edges, and resemble Chicken Pox scars. Boxcar scars are often found on the cheeks or temples and may be shallow or deep.
Rolling – Rolling scars are usually caused by damage under the surface of the skin, and will often cause the outer skin surface to look wave-like. Rolling scars often appear wide and shallow.
Hypertrophic – Hypertrophic scars are raised and lumpy. They’re commonly on the back and chest, but can also appear on the neck and face. They are often the result of more severe active lesions, such as cysts and nodules.
Acne Scar Correction
For the embarrassing pitted scarring and discolorations often left once active acne is under control we offer:
Smoothbeam™ Resurfacing targets the root cause of acne-the sebaceous gland. It provides an optimal balance of controlled cooling of the epidermis with precise heating of the upper dermis.
Pixel™ Resurfacing is designed for anyone who would like to benefit from skin resurfacing without significant downtime. This treatment helps to resurface fine lines and moderate to deep wrinkles, reduce hyperpigmentation, minimize large pores. It can also reduce the appearance of acne scarring. It involves no surgery or severe downtime. Pixel Laser skin resurfacing is a quick and effective procedure that leaves patients with smoother, younger-looking skin. With a series of five or more treatments, this procedure can produce dramatic results.
